String Cheese Incident – January 2nd – 1stBank Center

Saturday night was the third and final night of the String Cheese Incident’s annual New Year’s run at Broomfield’s 1stBank Center. For the first time since the tradition started, however, New Year’s Eve landed on a Thursday, and so the NYE celebration would fall on the first night of the run, rather than the last like previous years. Typically, the final night and NYE combination would mean that the run would end in a bang.

Banyan – March 6th – Oriental Theater

As the North Denver neighborhood they are located in reinvents itself, the owners of The Oriental Theater are working hard to preserve and protect what many consider the historical heart of the neighborhood. If they continue to bring in shows like Friday’s Banyan concert, they are well on their way to doing so. This is a band that somehow was greater than it’s individual parts. The music that they filled the Oriental Theater with was alive and expansive, making it one of the best shows of 2015 so far according to some.

YarmonyGrass – August 15th-17th – Rancho Del Rio

The one summarizing thought about this year’s YarmonyGrass: not enough! Just two days of hardly strictly bluegrass on the Colorado River was not enough. The weekend boasted blue skies, warm temperatures and so many friendly faces gathered at Rancho Del Rio for the best of what Colorado has to offer of Bluegrass and string music. Mountain air, clear skies and incredible once in a lifetime collaborations made YarmonyGrass 2014 one of the most beautiful and unforgettable summer festivals to date.
