Yarn – December 13th – Cervantes’ Other Side

Estimated read time 3 min read

Brooklyn band Yarn made a stop at Cervantes’ Other Side last Friday evening and brought with them vibrant personality and energy, igniting a smallish crowd of devoted “Yarmy” that traveled from as far away as Utah and Pennsylvania to see their favorite band perform. Since their inception in 2007, Yarn has become one of the hardest touring bands of this generation. The band’s sound straddles the divide between Bluegrass, Americana and Jam; the result is extremely pleasing to the ears and the soul.

Laura Marling & Phosphorescent – October 28th – eTown Hall

Estimated read time 5 min read

The intimate eTown Hall was filled with those abreast of the indie folk scene last Monday night for a daringly intimate performance from British singer-songwriter Laura Marling and indie rock act Phosphorescent. The two-hundred seat eTown Hall is one of the most intimate venues in Colorado, and regularly draws artists capable of selling out venues several times its size for the recording of the weekly eTown radio broadcast. Last Monday the crowd sat so remarkably silent that the delicate voices of both performers felt as if they were alone in the room.

Pickwick & Tommy Malone – May 8th – eTown Hall

Estimated read time 5 min read

Catching a show at eTown Hall feels a bit like going to church on a Sunday morning. A good amount of this probably due to the fact that eTown Hall is a renovated church building but the community feel of the venue also contributes to that feeling. Last week’s eTown taping featured Seattle’s Pickwick and Subdudes frontman Tommy Malone. Though it won’t hit the airwaves for a month or two, you won’t want to miss this one when it’s heard by over a million listeners across the country.
