Metalachi – February 19th – Marquis Theatre

Mexican Mariachi music is made to move you. It is direct, driving, and designed to instill emotion. Most songs are about machismo, love, betrayal, death, politics, and revolutionary heroes. All of this was perfect for a group that came out of L.A. and would become known as the world’s first and only Heavy Metal Mariachi band. On Friday, Soda Jerk presented an all ages showing of Metalachi, the world’s first and only heavy metal mariachi band.

The Bastard Suns – April 20th – The Marquis Theatre

Move over Peter Cottontail, Easter isn’t the only holiday in April anymore. April 20th has evolved into a counterculture holiday, especially here in Colorado, where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis. Staying with the holiday theme, Friday’s show at the Marquis Theatre was headlined by Silver Surfer Vaporizer sponsored band The Bastard Suns. Including the encore their set consisted of twenty-two songs. We are here to tell you they might just be the best thing to come out of Georgia since Coca-Cola and Wafflehouse.

When Mike Pinto is in town you can count on a good group of people showing up for his show. And when Mike invites hometown heroes P-Nuckle out to open, they call their friends, and they call their friends, and so on. Suffice it to say, that last Thursday quickly become one of those magical nights at the Marquis Theatre where the faces are all too familiar and the energy is just right.
