High on Fire – August 8th – Gothic Theatre

Estimated read time 3 min read

High on Fire has paved the way for an endless list of bands including Mastodon (whose members met at a High on Fire show). Their latest studio effort, Luminiferous, will most certainly top many end-of-year lists, and their live shows are the the stuff of legends. So to say this was a highly anticipated show for many in attendance would be a severe understatement. High on Fire crushed it! It’s no surprise, really. The well of songs they have to pick from is deep. And damn near all of their songs translate well in a live setting.

Megadeth’s “Gigantour” And Revitalized Line-Up Prove The Band Is Still Highly Relevant

Estimated read time 3 min read

While I will give Metallica their due as formable musicians I have always viewed Megadeth’s razor sharp musicianship and caustic politically charged wit as a far more valuable asset to the annuls of thrash and heavy metal.
