Method Man & Redman – April 7th – Cervantes’

Estimated read time 4 min read

Walking up to Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on Saturday night armed security guards were posted in front of the venue, and the wall of security at the door frisked everyone as if a shooting had already happened, and everyone was a suspect. Props to Cervantes’ for calling in the calvary to make sure things were run tight! It may have seemed like overkill to some, but the best line of defense is a strong offense, and it’s best to prepare for the worst. Inside Method Man and Redman burst on the stage blunts in hand and brought it all night long!

De La Soul & Black Sheep – October 29th – Cervantes’ Ballroom

Estimated read time 6 min read

It was a hip-hop history lesson at Cervantes’ this weekend and we all got schooled. The place was packed, with bass thumping and bodies moving to the sounds of NY Hip-Hop from the early 90’s. Modern rap has gone a totally different direction than it was going back then this show made us all wish we were back in the day every Saturday! De La Soul has a uniquely positive and energetic sound while Black Sheep brought the classics and whipped the room into a frenzied explosion.
