Estimated read time 10 min read

On August 16th, droves of Denverites came out for the Punk/Ska/Rock extravaganza that is the SummerGrind festival. The one day event, featuring 25 bands spread across three venues on S. Broadway in Englewood, was jam-packed with great acts – including big names like Morning Glory, Reno Divorce and The Suicide Machines, and a whole deluge of amazing local acts, creating a perfect storm of musical mayhem. Though it was hot at the outdoor stage, the AC in the Gothic offered a welcome retreat into a whole other world of madness.

7 Seconds – July 24th – Marquis Theater

Estimated read time 5 min read

Legendary Punk band 7 Seconds hadn’t played Denver since 2005, and lead singer Kevin Seconds quipped that some of the people in the room were younger than that, but were hopefully conceived to the band’s music. Punk’s not dead, but when you’re blasting out hits at age 53, the show might end by eleven o’clock. Fans ranging from young teens to well over fifty came out to see these aging punksters at The Marquis Thursday and it was such a pleasure that fans hope they return before another nine years pass.
