The punk/ska scene has one of the most supportive and loyal fan bases amongst all musical genres and I think there is a simple reason for this: honesty. We are an honest people, unashamed of our scars and proud of our triumphs.
The crowd that filled in The Bluebird was not what you would expect for MxPx, a band that has been pigeonholed as being a Christian Punk band over the years. But the variety and amount of fans present last Thursday proved this band’s “label” doesn’t matter to the people MxPx’s music has touched throughout their 21-year career. The Bremerton, Washington based band delivered an awesome set and played all the crowd favorites, even some requests, and everyone left with giant smiles on their faces, ecstatic to have seen such an underrated but highly influential band.
