Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats – August 21st – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

A cloud covered sky kept the temperature modest for a late August evening as a blend of Denver’s hip converged on Morrison’s marvel…Red Rocks. The demographic ranged from hipster to soccer mom, hippie to yuppie. Very diverse within the upper middle class, Caucasian world. We had a mild urge to go Hunter S. The Last Waltz Revisited – November 26th – Fillmore Auditorium

Estimated read time 5 min read

All the way back in 2005, Denver’s own Polytoxic started this tradition at the former Dulcinea’s 100th Monkey (now the 1UP-Colfax) just a half-block from the doors of The Fillmore. The boys brought up local musicians to help recreate The Band’s 1976 concert, The Last Waltz. Estimated read time 2 min read

On Thanksgiving Day in 1976, a coked-up film director who had just scored massive success with his films “Mean Streets” and “Taxi Driver,” stepped away from the cityscape of New York and traveled to the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco to train his lens on a band for the first time. Over the course of a nine-hour event, he helped to close one chapter of rock and roll, and to ultimately define every rock movie that ever followed.
