YarmonyGrass – August 23rd & 24th – State Bridge

State Bridge concluded their summer season with the annual YarmonyGrass, a festival beloved by Colorado bluegrass lovers that proved it has a loyal local following whose dedication to the music remains unwavering. An annual weekend of camping, swimming, and dancing on the banks of the river – the festival is a Rocky Mountain tradition that will only get better with age. Thanks to Andrew McConathy and the rest of the performers, State Bridge, and the state of Colorado for a fantastic weekend of amazing music; it will not be forgotten.

Set to the beautiful backdrop of the Colorado River, YarmonyGrass is one of Colorado’s preeminent Bluegrass festivals, but it’s not just Bluegrass. Split between State Bridge and Rancho Del Rio there is plenty to hear and see this year from Honkytonk Observatory and Drew Emmitt to Whiskey Tango and The Drunken Hearts, this years lineup is looking stellar!

Railroad Earth – January 19th – The Ogden Theatre

On Saturday evening, diehards, newcomers and plenty of Denver’s finest musical minds descended on The Ogden Theatre for the second night of Railroad Earth’s three-night 2013 winter run. Railroad Earth shows have become a fixture along the front-range over the last decade and the band never seems to disappoint. The song selection and instrumentals were off the charts and the Ogden crowd was as zany as it gets; even dancing right out the door at the end.

The Quick and Easy Boys – April 21st – Cervantes’

Last Saturday, The Quick & Easy Boys lit up the stage at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom with an aggressive pace and unique style. Along with Missed the Boat, they got the crowd excited and warmed up for an evening with Oakhurst. While those in attendance may have been expecting a night of bluegrass, there was no disappointment with the infectious and funky groove of The Quick & Easy Boys whose set built momentum with an authentic mix of funk, rock, and psychedelic pop that never slowed down.

Dead Winter Carpenters – February 27th – The Southern Sun

Last Monday’s Dead Winter Carpenter’s show at the Southern Sun fell at the tail end of the famous Mountain Sun Stout Month and many folks showed up early to grab a few of the special beers that were flowing freely before taking in this special young band. Their two set performance touched on new and material and even a great cover of the Scissor Sisters “Take Your Mama.”
