Telluride Blues & Brews – September 18th-20th – Telluride Town Park

The Listen Up Denver! crew rolled into Telluride with one simple intention: Do not take this for granted. We were in Telluride! Man, it was amazing! The weather was epic, the beer flowed freely and the music, oh the music. The footprints of musicians including Rich Robinson, Sharon Jones, and Otis Taylor dotted the stage throughout the weekend, and while the sun warmed the day, clear and starry skies cooled off the evenings and the dancing lasted till the wee hours of the morning.

Colorado’s own Otis Taylor will perform his signature “Trance Blues” at Park House in celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Telluride Blues & Brews Festival. Taylor is known for his raw approach to addressing heavy, but everyday topics. Opening for Otis Taylor is Delta bred Robby Peoples who is one of the most distinct, powerful, and bluesy voices on the Denver music scene today.

The music business is a fickle mistress. She’s incredibly kind to some for a year or two before turning her back and slamming the door, she dotes on some who clearly don’t deserve it, and often all but ignores some of the best and brightest talent out there. Even with 12 mesmerizing albums under his belt, sadly, Boulder’s own bluesman Otis Taylor seems to fit into that last category.
