Phish – January 15th, 16th, & 17th – Riviera Maya, Mexico

Estimated read time 6 min read

Three shows over the course of three nights is not an uncommon thing for Phish – but to do it in a tropical paradise, right on the beach, in a customized venue . . . well that’s special! It’s been a long time since phans had an international destination to travel to for a run of shows (June 2000 in Japan to be exact), and Trey, Mike, Page and Fish made it well worth everyone’s time over the course of these three magical nights in Mexico.

Magic was in the air as Phish returned to Denver to kick off their fourth, summer closing, Labor Day weekend run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. With the Friday night tradition of word play all but a guarantee, anticipation levels were high and the energy was palpable. Walking into the 26,000 person stadium you could feel the excitement and it was obvious from the get go that this would be another Dicks run to remember. When the evening came to a close fans went home happy knowing that they had seen something special.

The Meter Men – May 10th – The Ogden

Estimated read time 4 min read

The Ogden Theatre was buzzing with excitement last Friday in honor of the legendary Meter Men (Leo Nocentelli on guitar, George Porter Jr. on bass, and Zigaboo Modeliste on drums plus Page McConnell from Phish sitting in for the legendary Art Neville on the Keys). An older crowd sporting plain tees and cargo shorts—nothing too fancy. Just those who showed up for the funk and stayed for…well, the funk.

Phish – 8/31, 9/1, 9/2 – Dick’s Sporting Goods Park

So, let’s get this out of the way right off the bat, was Phish’s Friday night show at Dick’s the “best Phish show of the 3.0 era?” We’re not sure how it possibly could have been. Yes it had it’s moments, mostly due to the shenanigans of nodding to last year’s “S” show by spelling out “FUCK YOUR FACE” with the setlist, but overall the show was pretty uneven musically. It just didn’t flow like the other two nights of the run that featured some of the most fluid sets we’ve heard out of this band in years.

Phish landed in Colorado last Friday and threw an amazing three day party at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Northwest Denver. With a Friday night show that featured 26 songs that started with the letter “S,” a rock-n-roll packed night Saturday, and a stunning Sunday night filled with groove based jams, Phish gave it their all and left many phans speechless.
