Arcade Fire – October 25th – Pepsi Center

Estimated read time 1 min read

Arcade Fire lit up the Pepsi Center with one of the most energetic shows of the year. Despite the fact that the arena was vastly undersold, the band poured their heart and souls into a two hour performance that touched on all eras of their 16 year career. Staged in a boxing ring at the center of the floor, Win Butler and crew opened the show with the Disco laced title track from their most recent album, and the show took off from there. Arcade Fire has always been a powerfully unique band to see live, and this tour proved to be no exception.

Taylor Swift – September 6th – Pepsi Center

Estimated read time 6 min read

The Pepsi Center was bubbling over with adolescent energy Sunday night during Taylor Swift’s second sold-out night of her 1989 World Tour. Miniature Taylor Swifts in bright red lipstick and wayfarers waited in long lines for merch, photo booths, and various sponsored photos ops with large photos of their idol. They also carried homemade signs quoting Taylor’s lyrics or professing their love. The pop superstar brought a high-energy, high-production show filled with dancers, her hits, and enough talent to justify the ticket price.

U2 – June 7th – Pepsi Center

Estimated read time 6 min read

Arena concerts may not be the best way to experience live music, but for some bands, there just isn’t any other way to see them. U2 is one of those bands. Multiple night runs in arenas and stadiums are they way U2 has toured for years now and, given their massively creative ideas for staging these kinds of monster shows, it wasn’t so bad going into an arena to see them do their thing. Though, in the end, the performance was a bit uneven, the band delivered some monster cuts and memorable staging that made the trip into The Can worthwhile.

Garth Brooks – March 24th – Pepsi Center

Estimated read time 7 min read

On Tuesday night the Pepsi Center was a sea of denim, cowboy hats, belt buckles and short shorts. To say the atmosphere in the arena was electric as showtime approached would be doing a disservice to the thousands of buzzing fans who could barely sit still as they snapped selfies with the giant “G” that sat center stage on a huge digital cube. When it was all over Brooks had proven that he deserves the accolades that are showered upon him. He’s truly one of the greatest performers out there today.
