Double Vision Revisited: David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, and Bob James – August 5th – Denver Botanic Gardens

This past Monday the Denver Botanic Gardens morphed into a beautiful outdoor Jazz club as it played host to a supergroup featuring David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, and Bob James and Denver’s own Django Reinhardt inspired LAPOMPE. While the day was hot, the evening cooled off just enough to be comfortable and a nice bottle of Rose did the rest.

Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats – August 21st – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

A cloud covered sky kept the temperature modest for a late August evening as a blend of Denver’s hip converged on Morrison’s marvel…Red Rocks. The demographic ranged from hipster to soccer mom, hippie to yuppie. Very diverse within the upper middle class, Caucasian world. We had a mild urge to go Hunter S. Thompson on it, take an assortment of substances and try to mingle, but it was a Sunday.

Ms. Lauryn Hill – July 13th – Ogden Theatre

Despite a long wait before Ms. Lauryn Hill took the stage last Sunday night at the Ogden Theatre, the evening turned out to be an extremely creative night of music. The Mrs. Lauryn Hill experience came through town and was looking to get down, and that’s sure as heck what they did. Hill’s energy was at an extreme high, swag and attitude were on point, and her vocals could not have been more strikingly profound, impressively articulate, and unfathomably beautiful.

Robert Cray & Anders Osborne – September 11th – eTown @ The Boulder Theater

As those of you have been to a taping of the long running eTown radio broadcast know, eTown is known for bringing some incredible musicians together on the relatively small stage of The Boulder Theater for some fantastic performances. Last Tuesday was no different as two shades of The Blues joined host Nick Forster in eTown for the evening in the form of Robert Cray and Anders Osborne.
