Spafford – November 9th – Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 2 min read

Last Thursday night, Spafford kicked off a three night run in Colorado with a show at The Ogden Theatre. While they immediately put their considerable jamming prowess on display early on, the first set was not the fiery jam filled behemoth that they are known to unleash. That said, the band stepped things up in the second frame and dazzled the packed house with some wild jams, fun covers, and a special guest who really put some icing on the cake. These guys are on a tear and the stage is set for some big things in Colorado!

Maceo Parker – October 19th – Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom

Estimated read time 3 min read

Church was in session Sunday night as Maceo Parker and his band of Funk-fueled musicians took Denverites on a journey to the early days of Funk. The huge room at Cervantes’ was pretty empty early on, leaving those who arrived in time for Analog Son wondering why people were opting to stay in rather than see a legend like Maceo take the stage in such a small club. Halfway through the night, fans of the Funk had come out of the woodwork and the saxophone was preaching to the congregation.

While guitarist Josh Klinghoffer was the one in a foot cast this time around, the show went on as planned and by all accounts they rocked The Can with a monster show that fans had been waiting a long time for. While reports were that the room sounded pretty good, the energy was diluted a bit without a sweaty crush of bodies pressing up against the stage.
