Leftover Salmon & Phil Lesh – May 5th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

Saturday night marked the return of the mighty Phil Lesh to the stage of the majestic amphitheater. The lots were full early, and with the near perfect weather and the Cinco De Mayo holiday, it felt a bit like a FESTIVAL! It almost goes without saying that a huge contingent in the crowd were Deadheads, both grey-haired and baby-faced, some of whom may have been in attendance 40 years ago when Phil first played The Rocks with The Grateful Dead.

Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit – September 7th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

The rocks filled in quickly last Thursday with a wide variety of fans; there were Country leaning cowboy types, hipsters, buttoned up 9 to 5ers, and more than a small contingent of Punk fans waiting on the second opener Frank Turner to soothe their souls. All in all it was about the perfect night in Morrison and the diverse line-up pleased the masses.

Elephant Revival – May 21st – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 6 min read

The cusp of summer in Colorado is a beautiful time of year, full of warm days, cool nights, and dreamy mountain adventures – perfect for an evening on The Rocks with Elephant Revival. They hail from that little town a 30-minute drive up the canyon from Boulder, the mysterious town of Nederland (referred to by locals as “Ned”). It doesn’t have much cell phone service, and isn’t a typical stop on a tourist’s map. Perhaps that’s why this town has shaped such unique artists as the ones who make up this wonderful band.

The annual Tedeschi-Trucks Band headlining show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre is marked on many calendar’s months in advance and, with openers including North Mississippi Allstars and Los Lobos, there was no way this night would disappoint. The only thing weighing down the good vibes among the crowd were the looming clouds and forecast for a rainy night. Fortunately, the clouds were soon forgotten and the good vibes sent any chance of rain far away.

Dolly Parton – July 27th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

A plethora of cowboy boots, glittery hats, denim on denim, and even Dolly Parton look-a-likes dotted the stairs leading into the infamous Red Rocks Amphitheater on Wednesday night. It was one of the longest lines of cars I’d seen making the trek up through the park, as Dolly Parton’s fans had been waiting their whole lives to see her take the stage in Colorado. Tonight’s sold-out show was just one stop on Parton’s Pure & Simple Tour, which is being billed as her largest North American tour in 20+ years.

Gramatik returned to Red Rocks Amphitheater with Hippy Sabotage, Sweater Beats, The Geek X Vrv and ProbCause for a thrilling Friday night affair. After last year’s ‘Blizzmatik’ event in which wet snow hammered fans and performers throughout the night, fans flocked to the sold-out rerun at Red Rocks on Friday night. This time around the weather was benign and the young-colorful crowd gathered in the parking lot before the show to laugh about last years’ fun and enjoy the sunset.

A show at Red Rocks in May can be chilly, but what better way to welcome summer than with bluegrass, rockabilly, and blues from The Wood Brothers, Shakey Graves, and The Devil Makes Three?
