Punk Rock Bowling – June 2nd, 3rd & 4th – Summit Music Hall

Like bowling Punk shows are loud, violent, and often smell of sweat, stale beer, and cigarettes. With all the similarities it only seems fitting that the two would be combined into a music festival. Now in its eighteenth year, Punk Rock Bowling has become less about bowling (Soda Jerk Presents made sure it remained an element in Denver) and more about the legendary Hardcore and Punk band bookings.

Riot Fest – September 19th, 20th, 21st – Sports Authority Field

Although Riot Fest celebrated it’s tenth anniversary this year, it was only the second year that the festival has come to Colorado. The festival was originally located in Byers, but after the town refused to let festival attendees return for the second year, the event was moved to the blacktop at Sports Authority Field in Denver. Riot Fest is one-of-a-kind festival, with carnival rides and sideshows and a wide variety of music ranging from Rock to Punk to Rap.

Dillinger Four – August 9th – Summit Music Hall

All the old-school Punk Rockers showed up for the Riot Fest promoted event at the Summit Music Hall last Saturday. Fans from all over came out for the long overdue reunion show for the band Pinhead Circus, a Colorado band that was formed in 1988 and played last in 2008 and what ended up being a wild and controversial set from Dillinger Four, ending abruptly due to their bassists’ exposed genitals.
