The Congress – April 29th – Bluebird Theater

Estimated read time 5 min read

It’s always a party when The Congress plays and last Friday night was no different. With old friends high-fiving and hugging out under the marquee and inside the great little theater on Colfax, there was a feeling of family hanging in the air. When the boys in The Congress lived in Denver they were frequently found at The Bluebird, both as fans and performers. Now they have graduated to the national touring scene and came back to their old stomping grounds to strut their stuff!

PICK OF THE WEEK: Dyrty Byrds – Oriental Theater – Saturday, March 19th

Estimated read time 2 min read

Leaving a trail of burned up bars and sweat soaked guitars since 2009, the Dyrty Byrds have shown no mercy in their pursuit of original guitar driven rock and roll. Tori Pater, Eric Martinez, Mike “Spanky” McCluer, and Andrew Clapp are a fourpiece rock band from Denver, CO that would fit as easily into the 1970’s classic/southern rock scene as they do in modern day American music.

Robby Peoples – Love Don’t Love Me No More

Estimated read time 4 min read

Robby Peoples new EP “Love Don’t Love Me No More” shoots from the hip and hits the mark dead on with a Mississippi swagger, a wink and a smile. Peoples growls his lyrics with an air of truth that could only be achieved by experience. The realities and pains of living low on the hog and high on hard liquor are ingrained in each word, and Peoples sucks you into a world most have never crossed into. The only way someone can make an album like this is if they have been to hell and back, but missed the heat, and retraced their steps.
