Steve Poltz – March 10th – Soiled Dove Underground

Estimated read time 3 min read

I got introduced to Steve Poltz several years ago at the Rocky Mountain Folks Fest in Lyons and since that first show, Steve has been growing on me and has become of those acts I don’t want to miss when he’s around. This show at The Soiled Dove was just over a mile from my house, so there was no way I was going to miss out on the Steve Poltz experience.

Rocky Mountain Folks Fest – August 18, 19, 20 – Planet Bluegrass, Lyons, CO

Estimated read time 8 min read

Sure this festival is about music, but more than that it’s about the community that surrounds the music as performers stand in line alongside fans for a bowl of Sister’s Dumplings, hard fought for tarp dash numbers are graciously given away to unsuspecting families, and strangers look out for each other on the slippery river rocks. For three days each August the real world melts away as we join the rest of the Folks on Planet Bluegrass.

Rocky Mountain Folks Festival – August 17th, 18th, 19th – Planet Bluegrass Ranch, Lyons, CO

Estimated read time 13 min read

I think it’s become a goal of the team up at Planet Bluegrass to out-do themselves from year to year with the line-up of the Folks Festival. While last year featured headliners Jackson Browne, The Weir Robinson Greene Trio, and Brandi Carlile, this year brought Iron & Wine, Amos Lee, and Lyle Lovett to the intimate stage by the river in Lyons and each one mesmerized and surprised as they entertained the sold-out crowd.
