Posted on December 3, 2012 | No CommentsWe are still looking for reasons as to why the crowd wasn’t bigger at Cervantes' Other Side for Rodina’s show last week. It was a Thursday night, Rodina is still making a footprint with its music, there was a big weekend of music ahead with moe. in town...the list goes on. While there were a handful of fresh faces in the crowd, the medium-sized audience wasn’t enough of a showing of gratitude for the awesome music Rodina cranked out all night. -

In its current formation, Rodina is a new endeavor, and considering the name has virtually no recognition yet, a fair amount of people showed up to check out this who’s who of local and international talent. It was a Thursday night, and the Nuggets were playing a crucial playoff game against the Lakers, but the almost 200 people who ventured out and took a risk on something new, were the ones who saw a truly championship performance. -

The New Mastersounds are one of those mainstays here, despite being from Leeds, England. And now New Mastersounds keyboardist Joe Tatton is hammering his Hammond in a new Colorado-based side project — Rodina. Rodina is a who’s who of Denver talent featuring members of Kinetix, Fox Street All Stars, and Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, and the entire lineup is rooted in funk and reeks of Jazz Fest and Jam Cruise. -

Assembled around the captivating vocals & song-writing of Irish singer Aoife Hearty, Rodina also features New Mastersounds keyboards man Joe Tatton, Joshua Fairman of Kinetix is featured on Bass and Fox Street All Stars Eric Low and James Dumm weigh in on Drums and Guitar respectively. -
George Porter Jr. And The Runnin’ Pardners – January 21st – Cervantes’ Other Side
Posted on January 25, 2012 | No CommentsOn Saturday night the brick walls of Cervantes' Other Side fortified the funk and the legendary bass playing of George Porter Jr. acted as a cornerstone. The room packed with people of all ages as Porter and his Runnin’ Pardners rattled the mortar and shook the floors with the sound of true New Orleans funk, straight from the source. “It’s ALWAYS a good night when George is in town.” True dat! -
