Amos Lee & The Colorado Symphony – August 1st – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 3 min read

It was a gorgeous summer night at Red Rocks this past Friday and fifty-year-old white women waited in long lines to buy Beringer white wine. And buy it they did. Scott Sharrard & The Brickyard Band

Estimated read time 3 min read

Scott Sharrard is one of an increasingly rare breed of musician in today’s popular music climate. Sharrard’s music follows in the tradition of classic Rhythm and Blues, but his sound and songs are such that it still sounds fresh and vital, like its happening now. While the music is a bit more guitar-oriented, fans of the more recent wave of Rhythm and Blues groups and artists like Raphael Saadiq, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, and Tedeschi Trucks Band would definitely find a lot to enjoy here.

Al Green – July 23rd – Denver Botanic Gardens

Estimated read time 5 min read

Last Monday at the Botanic Gardens, the wine flowed, cured meats and cheeses were consumed by the plateful, and though the threat of rain hung in the air (and even fell out of it from time to time), it didn’t dampen the spirits of the Gardens faithful who had come out in droves to catch the one and only Reverend Al Green and Denver’s own soul sister, Hazel Miller deliver Soul classics in the way that only they can.
