Hall & Oates – September 12th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 2 min read

Daryl Hall & John Oates performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre last Monday was one of the most intimate performances on their summer schedule. The Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame inductees packed the Rocks with vigorous fans wanting a hit parade performance that few can do like Hall & Oates. The sold-out show was filled with a largely middle aged audience who, despite not being familiar with the supporting acts, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings followed by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, totally went crazy during each set.

Tedeschi-Trucks Band – June 13th – Red Rocks Amphitheater

Estimated read time 4 min read

While the finicky Colorado weather continues to hold out warmth and sunshine at Red Rocks, Saturday night brought one of the hottest bills of the summer. PICK OF THE WEEK: Alabama Shakes & Michael Kiwanuka – The Ogden Theatre – March 9th

Estimated read time 2 min read

Alabama Shakes not-so-subtle blend of fiery Blues-Bock and hard-hitting Southern Soul has drawn comparisons to the Black Keys, the Drive-By Truckers, and even Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings. Michael Kiwanuka’s acoustic Blues-Folk sound and timeless soulful voice has been favorably compared with the likes of Curtis Mayfield and Van Morrison. This is a must see show!

Scott Sharrard & The Brickyard Band

Estimated read time 3 min read

Scott Sharrard is one of an increasingly rare breed of musician in today’s popular music climate. Sharrard’s music follows in the tradition of classic Rhythm and Blues, but his sound and songs are such that it still sounds fresh and vital, like its happening now. While the music is a bit more guitar-oriented, fans of the more recent wave of Rhythm and Blues groups and artists like Raphael Saadiq, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, and Tedeschi Trucks Band would definitely find a lot to enjoy here.

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings – June 1st – Botanic Gardens

Estimated read time 5 min read

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings brought their Super Soul Revue to a criminally undersold Botanic Gardens on Wednesday night. Despite the empty seats, the band didn’t hold back at all and delivered a two hour set that surely had many in attendance running home to tell all their friends about their new favorite band.
