Telluride Blues & Brews – September 16, 17, 18 – Telluride, CO

The 23rd annual Telluride Blues & Brews festival took over Telluride Town Park this year with one of the best line-ups in it’s history. Right from the get-go things were on fire on the brand new Fred Shellman Memorial Stage with the Telluride debut of Con Brio showcasing one of the more talked about sets of the weekend. From the first notes to the last, this festival was one for the ages!

Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats – August 21st – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

A cloud covered sky kept the temperature modest for a late August evening as a blend of Denver’s hip converged on Morrison’s marvel…Red Rocks. The demographic ranged from hipster to soccer mom, hippie to yuppie. Very diverse within the upper middle class, Caucasian world. We had a mild urge to go Hunter S. Thompson on it, take an assortment of substances and try to mingle, but it was a Sunday.

Shovels & Rope – June 17th – Denver Botanic Gardens

Mother Nature shined her light down on the Botanic Gardens last Wednesday night with the first rainfree evening in Denver in what felt like months. The gardens were beautiful as the dark clouds of a storm loomed to the South and, as evening took hold, the clouds lit up in a brilliant pink sunset. On stage, John Fullbright and the Charleston South Carolina, husband and wife, duo Shovels & Rope put on a dazzling show that is haunted in retrospect by the tragic events that took place in Charleston on this very evening.

Pokey LaFarge with Shovels & Rope – September 18th – eTown Hall

Last week a pair of up and coming Americana acts, Pokey LaFarge and his band The South City Three, and Shovels & Rope, joined forces in eTown to deliver an evening of fantastic music in the new eTown Hall. While the venue is still a work in progress, both groups were tight as they ran through swinging originals in their own sets and a great cover of Chuck Berry’s “30 Days” to wrap up the night together. eTown was the place to be last Tuesday!
