Space Orphan (Album Release Party) – Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom – Friday, September 30th

Estimated read time 2 min read

Progressive old school. What does that even mean? For this group, it means providing a soulful, funky sound that is heavily based on groove, just as bands like The Meters and James Brown did in years past. But it also means taking those classic, danceable elements, and adding a few new tricks. Space Orphan will hit you in your soul and keep you dancing at the same time.

The minute Analog Son hit the stage, the place started jumping. As the band’s set unfolded, the one constant on the stage was soul. You could feel it building in the bombastic bass lines Josh Fairman laid down all the way up to the lovely Kim Dawson who added a roof of pure Soul which she promptly blew right off!
