Faith No More – September 8th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

Faith No More drew the short straw with the post Labor Day holiday weekend hangover slot at Red Rocks last Tuesday. While Sol Invictus (released in May on Ipecac), the first studio album from Faith No More since 1997, certainly won’t be their most commercially successful album, it might just be their finest. This band has aged well. Hell, it feels like they never went away. Many of the songs on ‘Sol Invictus’ feel immediately at home with long time fans anxious to see how they translated to the live show.

Nine Inch Nails & Soundgarden – July 21st – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden each delivered an excellent performance in their co-headlining performance at Red Rocks last Monday. Though Soundgarden may have been cast somewhat into the shadows by Trent Reznor and fantastic production quality of his performances, they were enjoyable and technically on point. The gravity of NIN’s performance took the audience through the full human emotional experience. Their portion of the show was massive.

Soundgarden – May 28th – 1st Bank Center

Estimated read time 4 min read

Following Tuesday’s “Evening With Soundgarden” at Colorado’s 1st Bank Center, it is clear that the nearly 15-year hiatus did nothing to hinder the band’s sound, chemistry, or performance. What the hiatus seems to have done is strengthened both the band and its fanbase – Knights of the Soundtable. It was readily apparent, (before the lights had gone down and the long-awaited Soundgarden took the stage), that for these fans, distance really had made all the difference.

Peter Frampton – March 27th – The Paramount Theatre

Estimated read time 6 min read

Hundreds of baby-boomers crowded the landmark Paramount Theatre on Tuesday night for a trip back to a different time. The show was a celebration of the 35th anniversary of Peter Frampton’s “Frampton Comes Alive!,” the best selling record of 1976 and still one of the best selling live records to date. Couples who likely hadn’t given the double LP a spin in a decade or two packed the historic theater and were entertained by a big screen on stage playing a slideshow of black and white and sepia tone images of their huge-haired icon.

PICK OF THE WEEK: Mudhoney w/ The Fluid – January 6th – The Bluebird Theatre

Estimated read time 2 min read

Nirvana may have been the band that put an entire generation in flannel, and Pearl Jam and Soundgarden both sold a lot more records, but Mudhoney was truly the band who made the ’90s grunge rock movement possible. Mudhoney was the first real success story for Sub Pop Records; their indie-scene success laid the groundwork for the movement that would (briefly) make Seattle, WA the new capital of the rock & roll universe.

Estimated read time 3 min read

Soundgarden fans have been waiting for this for a long time.
