It’s been three years since Orchard Lounge (OL) played Five Points powerhouse venue Cervantes’. The Chicago-based trio is back this Friday, February 2, and this time, with live talent in tow. However, don’t expect a Phil Connors-style repeat this Groundhog Day. Orchard Lounge promises a refreshed vibe with plenty of new grooves. Still on the fence about throwing on your dancing shoes? Sonic Bloom was another great success in 2014 in its new venue, the American Safari Ranch located in South Park, Colorado. The festival, which had its first year all the way back in 2005, has moved a few times and has consistently turned out a great experience for attendees, building and growing, making each year a little better. Just a few of this year’s highlights included performances from Tipper, The Polish Ambassador, Pretty Lights Music, and Michal Menert.

The Second Annual Beanstalk Music and Arts Festival took over State Bridge this past weekend in beautiful Bond, CO. Youths in dreads mingled with bearded older folks, while bright-eyed flower children rubbed shoulders with the tenured hippie chicks. At State Bridge, families will party with the young and the restless, just so long as their kids are equipped with the most state of the art headphones. Music brings these crews together and they couldn’t be happier.

Back at the end of June, Shadow’s Ranch up in Georgetown was overtaken by 3,000 electronic music lovers, and yes, we do mean lovers. With a common theme of love and compassion running through the weekend, this year’s Sonic Bloom Festival featured some of the biggest names in the genre. Everyone responsible for making this festival happen are building a family based on the simplest of ideas that we all to often forget: have compassion for one another. It was truly a special experience.
