This was a special evening at The Denver Botanic Gardens. With not one but two standout sets from masterful songwriters and instrumentalists, the gardens were awash in melody as those of us lucky enough to be there soaked up the evening and sipped our wine.

Alt-J roared into The Bluebird Theater last Tuesday for their first performance in the Mile High City. Fresh off two solid sets at Coachella, Alt –J decided to close out their first U.S tour in Denver. Everyone in the building seemed to have a different favorite track they were dying to hear. Throughout the night a sold-out crowd was treated to An Awesome Wave and several breathtaking covers that left the room stunned and extremely appreciative of this British quartet’s incredible talent.

Trampled By Turtles – May 18th – The Ogden

Estimated read time 4 min read

The mid-western transplants came out in droves Friday night to see Trampled by Turtles (TBT) at The Ogden. The Duluth based folk-bluegrass band is touring on their new album, “Stars and Satellites” and the sold-out crowd sported their Minnesota Twins hats, overalls, and plaid – lots and lots of plaid. The beer lines were long, and the crowd had a nice buzz before the opener even hit the stage. The atmosphere had a collective excitement about it you only find at Friday night shows and the band delivered raging and precisely played show.

Shpongle – April 7th – The Ogden

Estimated read time 4 min read

On Saturday night The Ogden was a surprisingly warm and loving place where all night long Hippies danced alongside raver kids and 30 somethings out for a night on the town. Smiles were flashed from one face to another and people flowed through the crowd with ease. I’ve seen Shpongle a few times now, but this time, I got Shpongled. I’m hooked. I’m not sure what it was about this show that made it different from the others I’ve been to, but I finally understand why people rave about Simon Poshford and Shpongle.
