Riot Fest – September 19th, 20th, 21st – Sports Authority Field

Although Riot Fest celebrated it’s tenth anniversary this year, it was only the second year that the festival has come to Colorado. The festival was originally located in Byers, but after the town refused to let festival attendees return for the second year, the event was moved to the blacktop at Sports Authority Field in Denver. Riot Fest is one-of-a-kind festival, with carnival rides and sideshows and a wide variety of music ranging from Rock to Punk to Rap.

SnowBall Music Festival – April 5th – Sports Authority Field

Despite gray skies and the threat of rain, day two of SnowBall Music Festival saw a fired up crowd ready to soak in a diverse lineup of bands, MCs, and DJs at Sports Authority Field. The diverse lineup did not disappoint and the willingness of most concert goers to let their freak flags fly was almost contagious. While the switch in locations from the mountains to a parking lot in Denver didn’t exactly lend to the atmosphere, it certainly made things more convenient and a whole lot warmer.

Phoenix – August 7th – 1st Bank Center

Undaunted by the threats of severe weather and the last minute venue change from Red Rocks to the less environmentally stunning 1st Bank Center, Phoenix had to rise to the challenge last Wednesday of making up for this significant loss. Although plenty of neon garb and vintage Body Glove t-shirts dotted the sizeable and youthful crowd slowly making their way inside, the crowd’s general lack of urgency showed an underlying current of letdown. Once onstage the Frenchmen proved that the sudden turn of events didn’t have to be fatal.
