The Milk Carton Kids – November 14th – The Bluebird Theater

Estimated read time 3 min read

When The Milk Carton Kids rolled into Denver last week it was like the old days, there was no band in tow, no big venue to navigate, just Joey and Kenneth, their guitars and a single microphone. It was a stripped down, intimate affair that had sold-out well in advance and, for those of us lucky enough to make it inside, it was a very special evening of music.

The Milk Carton Kids – June 25th – Denver Botanic Gardens

Estimated read time 3 min read

This was a special evening at The Denver Botanic Gardens. With not one but two standout sets from masterful songwriters and instrumentalists, the gardens were awash in melody as those of us lucky enough to be there soaked up the evening and sipped our wine.

Josh Ritter & The Milk Carton Kids – August 12th – Botanic Gardens

Estimated read time 4 min read

In a state where we are fortunate enough to have some of the most beautiful venues to hear music in, The Denver Botanic Gardens is right up there on the list alongside Red Rocks, The Mish, and Planet Bluegrass. It’s picturesque gardens and lush, “in the round” grass amphitheater, is an almost ideal place to enjoy a summertime concert and last week a modest crowd gathered with their picnics for a folky evening with The Milk Carton Kids and Josh Ritter.

The Milk Carton Kids – August 30th – Swallow Hill

Estimated read time 4 min read

The Milk Carton Kids put on an excellent show at Swallow Hill last week and they left people with non-stop laughs, even better sounding versions of their recorded songs, and a whole preview of a new album. The duo’s voices fit so well together it’s hard to believe that they could have never met. It was more than anyone could have asked for. In the past year acts like The Civil Wars have taken off and The Milk Carton Kids, based on the quality of their live work, should be the next folk duo to break into the mainstream.

Rocky Mountain Folks Festival – August 17th, 18th, 19th – Planet Bluegrass Ranch, Lyons, CO

Estimated read time 13 min read

I think it’s become a goal of the team up at Planet Bluegrass to out-do themselves from year to year with the line-up of the Folks Festival. While last year featured headliners Jackson Browne, The Weir Robinson Greene Trio, and Brandi Carlile, this year brought Iron & Wine, Amos Lee, and Lyle Lovett to the intimate stage by the river in Lyons and each one mesmerized and surprised as they entertained the sold-out crowd.
