King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – October 11th – Red Rocks Amphitheater

Estimated read time 5 min read

True to their word, over the course of three hours, the band played songs from no less than 15 albums dating all the way back to their 2012 debut 12 Bar Bruise with well over half the material having been released before the pandemic. It was truly an incredible show and one that cemented this band’s place on the Red Rocks schedule for years to come I would imagine

The War On Drugs – September 19th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

At this point in my concert going career, it’s fairly rare for me to go to Red Rocks to see a band for the first time. A few years ago I saw my first Stevie Wonder show at Red Rocks, my one and only Van Halen show was at Red Rocks and so was my only Lionel Richie experience. The War On Drugs – October 10th – Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 3 min read

PICK OF THE WEEK: The War On Drugs – Ogden Theatre – Friday, October 10th

Estimated read time 2 min read

Philadelphia’s The War on Drugs reside at the blurred edges of American music: overexposing studio limitations, piling tape upon tape to maximum density, and then — with each song — they pull off the scaffolding to reveal what sticks, keeping only what’s absolutely necessary and dig into what sounds like the best kind of fucked up.

Sharon Van Etten – March 28th – The Bluebird

Estimated read time 3 min read

Last Wednesday night, The Bluebird showcased a strange combination of dark and brooding shoegaze and freshly confident folk sounds. While The War On Drugs bulging reverb laden tones coursed through the theatre, many stood waiting patiently for Van Etten and her band put their emotions on display and conjure up emotional images. Sharon Van Etten’s performance was stunning and she found a unique niche in our hearts with her folky sounds and charming vocals that are sure to bring in a bigger crowd at her next Denver appearance.
