WinterWonderGrass is back! After being forced to take 2021 off due to the risks associated with COVID-19, it was a joyous celebration in the mountains when the crown jewel of Colorado’s winter festival season event kicked off on Friday.
WinterWonderGrass Colorado is excited to announce the addition of The Wood Brothers to the 2022 festival lineup, marking the band’s return to the festival for the first time since 2016. The highly-anticipated return of the Colorado-edition of the festival is set to take place over February 25–27, 2022 at Steamboat Resort in Steamboat Springs, CO.
There’s no doubt it was another cold weekend up in Steamboat for WinterWonderGrass, but there are so many hearty, do whatever it takes, music fans that things really heated up with the likes of Railroad Earth, Trampled By Turles, The Infamous Stringdusters, and Billy Strings!
Red Rocks has always been a benchmark of success to any band lucky enough to play it, and Trampled By Turtles proved their place among those greats by selling out their performance last Thursday. Despite rain right at the start of the Turtles’ set, the band did not disappoint the enthusiastic audience, and by all accounts played a great set that had a nice mix of covers and originals.
The Devil Makes Three’s sound is garage-y ragtime, punkified blues, old n’ new timey without settling upon a particular era. Joining them is Shakey Graves. With his new record, ‘And the War Came,’ he extends the ground—emotionally and sonically—broken by his 2011 self-released debut album, Roll the Bones. Rounding out this amazing bill is The Wood Brothers so don’t miss this show!
The fourth annual Winter Wondergrass Festival enraptured the small town of Avon, CO during a beautiful, bluebird weekend. In years’ past, snow, ice and freezing temperatures made the festival a struggle, but never impeded its reception. The combination of the near-perfect weather and stellar lineup made this year one of WWG’s best years yet.
It’s February and us Colorado locals are well into the routine of skiing, drinking whiskey and listening to Bluegrass in our ski gear. These activities are a Coloradans way of “living the life.” So why not bring them all together and call it a festival? Well, a few great minds at Bonfire Entertainment did just that. Once again, our favorite bands are playing at a small festival..in the middle of a ski town…where the beer flows freely.
Duluth Minnesota’s Low brought a powerful show to a sold-out Larimer Lounge this past Friday the 13th. The Sub Pop veterans brought out shoegazers seeking downtempo, hard hitting music, and all left satisfied as the band effortlessly hit hard in the best and most nonchalant way possible, bringing mesmerizing moments that proved why they have remained a fixture of the scene for so long.
