Formed in 1983 by the Frazier brothers, the band has evolved from playing the streets of the French Quarter to playing festivals and stages all over the world. Baritone Sax man of Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Roger Lewis, was kind enough to spend some time with Listen Up Denver! as he woke up in New Orleans the morning the band was hitting the road for a run of shows here in Colorado. As he rubbed the sleep from his eyes and The Sandman’s fog lifted from mind, Lewis opened up about everything from the beginnings of the band to the progress they are making on a new record.

Steve Earle played a intimate 45 minute set at Twist & Shout Records yesterday evening. He played about 9 songs from throughout his storied career including several from his new record, “I’ll Never Get Out Of This World Alive.” While the music was great, his between song banter and storytelling is what really made the performance special.
