Last weekend Listen Up Denver! got the chance to sit down with Jake Cinninger, Kris Myers and Ryan Stasik of Umphrey’s McGee at sloppy mudfest that was Wakarusa. The band is celebrating their 15th year together and is thrilled to be taking the stage at Red Rocks again this summer. As the mainstage thundered away in the background, we talked about their favorite memories on The Rocks, their pre-show rituals and how much practicing it takes to maintain their incredibly tight performances.

Karl Denson’s Tribute To The Beastie Boys – June 22nd – The Boulder Theater

The building was electric; with a packed house of super fans singing along to a laundry list of Beastie bests, Kyle, OG, and DeLa of Slightly Stoopid handled their roles as MCA, Ad Rock, and Mike D perfectly. Their showmanship undoubtedly outshined the stage lights as Karl Denson and the rest of his “Tiny Universe” provided the musical backdrop for the best tribute we’ve heard since MCA’s tragic passing.

The Devil Makes Three is currently touring in support of their newest LP, Stomp and Smash; a live release recorded over two sold out nights in Petaluma, CA and they give new meaning to the phrase “tour machine.” They played Wakarusa in the middle of a national tour with Flogging Molly and dates with Gogol Bordello before heading to Bonnaroo.
