Estimated read time 7 min read

The Bluebird Theater was already filling up by 9pm on Friday with patrons quick enough to have scored entrance as the two night event had sold-out in advance. The genre bending group displayed on the Bluebird marquee turned out to be a righteous assortment of talent. The theater hosted a colorful mixture of artists ranging from Hip-Hop to Electronic to Funk. The mix of artists on the bill was impressive giving Colorado bands a chance to share the stage with a legend in the business.

Westword Music Showcase – June 23rd – The Golden Triangle

Estimated read time 7 min read

The 18th annual Westword Music Showcase took over Denver’s Golden Triangle on the 23rd as 15 venues hosted hundreds of local and national bands in the 104 degree heat. The nationally touring acts on the main stage added power to the event, and the energy Girl Talk put out at the end of the night nearly surged the grid.

With 16 stages and over 150 local and national bands, The Westword Music Showcase boasts that it is Denver’s biggest one-day music festival and quite frankly, it’s almost too much to manage. With 16 bands playing at the same time, conflicts abound and you are left to select only a few over the course of the day. That said, it’s a great festival and the overload is part of the fun!
