Wild Lives – April 22nd – Lion’s Lair

Up and coming Denver band Wild Lives took the Lion’s Lair stage on Friday night just days after their front-man, Hans Meyer, was featured on the cover of The Westword for his outstanding work with Denver’s immigrant population. Though he, and the rest of the band, are consummate professionals during the week, what they put on display on Saturday night would make any Punk rocker from the CBGB’s scene of the late 70’s or early 80’s proud.

Roka Hueka – February 4th – Hi-Dive

Last Saturday night at the Hi-Dive, Denver’s own Latin Ska ensemble, Roka Hueka, delivered a brief, but powerful set opening for legendary New York Ska outfit The Toasters. Playing to an enthusiastic and packed house, frontman Andres Gonzalez belted out original tunes in his native Spanish as the band raged behind him and dancers skanked at the lip of the stage.
