The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn Reveals Solo Songs

Estimated read time 1 min read

This just in from Pitchfork.com, and we are VERY EXCITED about it:  “On April 15, Minnesota Public Radio‘s “Wits” hosted Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn, writer Chuck Klosterman, and a phone call from Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx.  City Pages reports that Finn played three new solo acoustic songs, backed by a stand-up bassist, a vibraphonist, and a pedal steel player. According to City Pages, Finn told the crowd, ‘They aren’t really Hold Steady songs. This is the first time I’ve played them for anyone.'”

They are right, this doesn’t sound like The Hold Steady, but it’s just as good . . . let’s hope Craig does something with these songs, an album of material like this would be VERY welcome!  Sit back and enjoy . . .

Music has always been a part of my life. It probably all started listening to old Grateful Dead, Peter Paul & Mary, and Simon & Garfunkel records that my parents had, but it wasn't long before they were taking me to concerts like Starship, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Huey Lewis & The News. I got the bug to write about music after reviewing an Eric Clapton concert for a creative writing project in high school but didn't really take it up seriously until 2002. Since then I have published countless articles in The Marquee Magazine and done some work for Jambase.com, SPIN Magazine, and various other outlets. I started Listen Up Denver! as a way to share the music information that is constantly spilling out of my head with people who care. Please enjoy!
