Estimated read time 2 min read

The Boulder Theater has just announced that The Avett Brothers will be performing on their stage on the evening of July 8th, the night before their sold-out show at Red Rocks!  This show will go up for presale on Tuesday, June 14th at Noon MST.  The Avett Brothers email list subscribers will receive their username and password on Tuesday at 8 am.  If you do not get tickets in the first presale, there WILL be a second KBCO sponsored presale beginning on Thursday. Information will be posted on The Avett Brothers Facebook page regarding those tickets! Please note that this show will not have an opening act and starts at 9 pm sharp.

The songs of the Avett Brothers are honest: just chords with real voices singing real melodies. But, the heart and the energy with which they are sung, is really why people are talking, and why so many sing along. They are a reality in a world of entertainment built with smoke and mirrors, and when they play, the common man can break the mirrors and blow the smoke away, so that all that’s left behind is the unwavering beauty of the songs. That’s the commotion, that’s the celebration, and wherever The Avett Brothers are, that’s what you’ll find.

Music has always been a part of my life. It probably all started listening to old Grateful Dead, Peter Paul & Mary, and Simon & Garfunkel records that my parents had, but it wasn't long before they were taking me to concerts like Starship, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Huey Lewis & The News. I got the bug to write about music after reviewing an Eric Clapton concert for a creative writing project in high school but didn't really take it up seriously until 2002. Since then I have published countless articles in The Marquee Magazine and done some work for Jambase.com, SPIN Magazine, and various other outlets. I started Listen Up Denver! as a way to share the music information that is constantly spilling out of my head with people who care. Please enjoy!
