David Byrne & St. Vincent – July 13th – Botanic Gardens @ Chatfield

Despite the fact that David Bryne and Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) were forced to cut their set a bit short due to a lengthy rain delay before their concert last weekend at The Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, they put on a fantastic performance, and one that will people will be talking about until the next time Byrne comes to town. The duo treated us to about two thirds of their recent collaboration ‘Love This Giant’ along with a smattering of St Vincent originals and some real crowd pleasers in the form of four Talking Heads covers.

James Blake – April 28th – Ogden Theater

Last Sunday the Ogden’s stage was lit sparsely with blues and purples befitting the tone of James Blake’s music, with strobe lights being the most adventurous light display of the evening. Apparently the opening act didn’t do much to enliven the audience, so by the time James Blake and a pair of accompanying musicians took to the stage, the anticipation in the room was tangible. Some call his sound post-dubstep or electro-soul but as any concertgoer knows, a label doesn’t matter when an artist hits the stage.

Ott & The All Seeing I – February 8th – Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom

The vibe on the street in front of Cervantes’ was warm, cheery and full of smiles last Friday night as fans were prepping for some release after the work week. Excitement was thick in the air as the crowd shuffled under the marquee into the Masterpiece Ballroom. This was the first test of Denver’s hallowed musical grounds for Ott’s new live show, and fans packed the house to see what they had in store.
