Mandolin Orange – August 24th – Mishawaka Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 5 min read

The Poudre Canyon has an energy about it. You can feel it when you drive through the winding roads. It pulls you in and wraps you up like a blanket. As you continue through these winding roads of solitude, life suddenly emerges. It’s here you encounter the renowned Mishawaka Amphitheatre, nestled in the remote majesty of the Poudre.

Estimated read time 8 min read

Sure this festival is about music, but more than that it’s about the community that surrounds the music as performers stand in line alongside fans for a bowl of Sister’s Dumplings, hard fought for tarp dash numbers are graciously given away to unsuspecting families, and strangers look out for each other on the slippery river rocks. For three days each August the real world melts away as we join the rest of the Folks on Planet Bluegrass.

Gregory Alan Isakov – March 5th – Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 5 min read

Thursday night an amazing set traversed the vast expanses that Gregory Alan Isakov so deftly paints. He stood still as lyric and music painted scenes around him in the minds of the audience, drawing on the emotions the mind tends to attach to those spaces. The set was heavily centered on 2013’s ‘The Weatherman,’ though plenty of favorites from previous albums made appearances as well. Gregory Alan Isakov, in his biggest local headlining show yet, played one of the most notable sets we’ve seen thus far in 2015,

20 Questions with Trout Steak Revival

Estimated read time 6 min read

While the group hails out of Denver, their music was inspired by what lies just beyond our city in the “misty high country” where they say the music was born. They started as an informal Bluegrass Jam group and have made huge leaps in years since.
