PICK OF THE WEEK – The Devil Makes Three & Shakey Graves – Red Rocks – Friday, May 27th

Estimated read time 3 min read

The Devil Makes Three’s sound is garage-y ragtime, punkified blues, old n’ new timey without settling upon a particular era. Joining them is Shakey Graves. With his new record, ‘And the War Came,’ he extends the ground—emotionally and sonically—broken by his 2011 self-released debut album, Roll the Bones. Rounding out this amazing bill is The Wood Brothers so don’t miss this show!

The thing about The Polish Ambassador is that whether or not all of his fans are familiar with the beats he drops, one thing’s for sure – they’re all familiar with the positive vibes filling the air at every one of his shows. This was truer than ever on Friday night, as the night centered on a cause dear to Polish, Permaculture. The Permaculture Action Network connects the community by empowering people with the tools needed to live earth-based practices and bring about a regenerative way of living.

Shakey Graves – December 11th – Bluebird Theater

Estimated read time 2 min read

Shakey Graves sold-out all three shows at the Bluebird Theater this past weekend and you could feel the energy coursing through the room as people crammed in early buzzing with excitement. While men and women in their late 20s to early 30s made up a majority of the audience, you could find the suave elderly rubbing elbows with giddy teens. It was a weeknight show, but that didn’t stop the indie rocker from beginning his set at 10:45 and playing until a mean 12:30 a.m. People left with heavy lids and happy hearts.

The Telluride Blues & Brews Festival is a one-of-a-kind music meets beer experience. Sure there are festivals all summer long in this idyllic little mountain town, but none of them blend two things so suited for each other: world class Blues music and world class beer. While it’s a must-see bucket-list trip for a lover of either of the festival’s main attractions, it’s also the kind of place that welcomes newbies with open arms, full glasses, and three solid days of music.
