The War On Drugs – September 19th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

At this point in my concert going career, it’s fairly rare for me to go to Red Rocks to see a band for the first time. A few years ago I saw my first Stevie Wonder show at Red Rocks, my one and only Van Halen show was at Red Rocks and so was my only Lionel Richie experience. I’m sure there have been others but the list is short. So, when The War on Drugs, a band I’ve been chasing since at least 2016, announced their Red Rocks debut I didn’t care that it was a Monday night. I made it my business to get there.

Jonny Lang & JJ Grey – August 6th – Denver Botanic Gardens

Estimated read time 3 min read

Tuesday was a scorcher, no doubt about that! When I rolled up to the Denver Botanic Gardens, my car was reading the outdoor temperature as 95 degrees and it felt every bit of that as I walked a couple of blocks and took my place in line to see the formidable double bill of Jonny Lang and JJ Grey & Mofro.

Spafford – November 9th – Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 2 min read

Last Thursday night, Spafford kicked off a three night run in Colorado with a show at The Ogden Theatre. While they immediately put their considerable jamming prowess on display early on, the first set was not the fiery jam filled behemoth that they are known to unleash. That said, the band stepped things up in the second frame and dazzled the packed house with some wild jams, fun covers, and a special guest who really put some icing on the cake. These guys are on a tear and the stage is set for some big things in Colorado!

Roosevelt Collier’s Colorado Get Down – February 19th – 1up Colfax

Estimated read time 3 min read

It wasn’t too long ago that the seedy remnants of a smut shack were re-imagined into an entertainment complex with music, arcade games, and some of the better super-jams in the Denver area. Last Thursday set a new bar for the venue when they sold-out the most recent edition of Roosevelt Collier’s “Colorado Get Down.” This time around Collier welcomed Dave Watts, Garrett Sayers, Joey Porter and Billy Nershi to the stage along with several surprise guests who added some color to an already stellar line-up of talent.

STS9 – January 2nd – Fillmore Auditorium

Estimated read time 4 min read

Despite frigid temperatures, and a line of flat brims and hoodies that stretched a full city block, the vibrations within the Fillmore for last Friday’s STS9 show were more than palpable. Following a mesmerizing two set performance the band encored with the endlessly trippy slow buildup of “Phoneme” off of their album ‘Ad Explorata,’ which roughly translates to “Forward Into The Unexplored.” STS9 proved yet again that they probably always will do just that when it comes to their unique music.

Last Tuesday was one of the coldest nights of the year, but that didn’t deter the faithful from making their way up to the 1stBank Center for the second night of the String Cheese Incident 2014 New Year’s Run. Ms. Lauryn Hill – July 13th – Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 5 min read

Despite a long wait before Ms. Lauryn Hill took the stage last Sunday night at the Ogden Theatre, the evening turned out to be an extremely creative night of music. The Mrs. Lauryn Hill experience came through town and was looking to get down, and that’s sure as heck what they did. Hill’s energy was at an extreme high, swag and attitude were on point, and her vocals could not have been more strikingly profound, impressively articulate, and unfathomably beautiful.
