Our friends at Jambase shared some exciting news today. After an electrifying performance at last year’s Gathering of the Vibes with Rhythm Devils Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, the Disco Biscuits have decided to team up with the Grateful Dead drummers once again for a 1 night performance at Red Rocks that will include two sets of Disco Biscuits material and a third tribute set to the Grateful Dead with Kreutzmann and Hart. The Red Rocks show will be a part of the Biscuits’ annual Bisco Inferno. The other three shows will take place at The Ogden Theatre April 15th, 16th, and 18th.

Here’s a Facebook from Marc Brownstein announcing the shows:

Hey guys, I am super excited to be in my favorite place in the world- the top of Vail Resorts– for this incredible announcement. Just wanted to say that we have a great, 4-night run planned for you guys this April 15-18 in Colorado, and that we are excited to finally play THREE SETS at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre on April 17, with two full The Disco Biscuits sets as per the usual, and one of the set a tribute to the all time greatest American rock band, the Grateful Dead, with the original drummers, at the greatest outdoor venue in the USA. The other 3 nights will be Disco Biscuits shows at The Ogden Theatre.

The tapes that initially introduced me to the Dead were from 7/8/78 at Red Rocks, and the thought that we get to recreate some of their music with their drummers (and who knows who else) gives me chills. The kind of chills I get when sitting on top of the world looking over the valleys below me right now”

Nate Todd

Nate Todd was born on the central plains of Nebraska, but grew up on the high plains of the Texas panhandle. With not much to do in either place, music was his constant companion. His parents dubbed the first two albums he ever owned onto a tape for him. Side A was Bert and Ernie’s Sing Along. Side B was Sgt. Peppers. His lifelong love affair with music started early as he practically grew up in a Rock & Roll band, with his father and uncle often taking him out on the road or into the studio with them. Nate began performing live at sixteen and hasn’t looked back, having played in numerous bands from L.A. to Austin. At the age of twenty he was bitten by the writing bug, and upon moving to Denver decided to pursue a degree from Metropolitan State University where he recently graduated with a B.A. in English and a minor in Cinema Studies.
