Tedeschi Trucks Band rolled into Red Rocks with their Wheels of Soul tour with authority for the first night of the two day run!  As has been the tradition the last few summers, TTB was joined by two other powerhouse bands for the duration of the summer.  First up was the future of the scene, the fire breathing Marcus King and his hard hitting crew and they left the stage in flames!  Filling the middle slot were stalwarts of the Dirty South, Drive-By Truckers.  While some bands sell their set, the Truckers own it.  There’s no doubt they owned every inch of Red Rocks and any souls lucky enough to witness it.  The TTB were, of course, the final act of the night.  They have taken the concept of an old school big band and made it their own, they have one of the most complex sounds on the road today with their massive 12 piece rocks orchestra.  This lineup was perfect from first note to final bow, they came out and bitchslapped the audience, no one stood a chance.

Music has always been a part of my life. It probably all started listening to old Grateful Dead, Peter Paul & Mary, and Simon & Garfunkel records that my parents had, but it wasn't long before they were taking me to concerts like Starship, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Huey Lewis & The News. I got the bug to write about music after reviewing an Eric Clapton concert for a creative writing project in high school but didn't really take it up seriously until 2002. Since then I have published countless articles in The Marquee Magazine and done some work for Jambase.com, SPIN Magazine, and various other outlets. I started Listen Up Denver! as a way to share the music information that is constantly spilling out of my head with people who care. Please enjoy!
