Bob Weir was here on Monday and I was there to catch him at the Paramount Theatre with his new band Wolf Brothers. Not many people have had careers as prolific as Weir, and he shows no signs of stopping. This three-piece band and their take on Bob’s favorite cowboy songs was a slam dunk, both and depth of players and in quality of song choices. Bob was singing well and, despite the occasional missed lyric he is so well known for, his vocals were on point. On top of that, his guitar playing was every bit as good as his vocals. Simply put, the man really is on top of his game. Made up of legends Don Was and Jay Lane, Wolf Brothers are definitely no slouches and created the perfect canvas for another Weir musical masterpiece. If you missed this one you definitely missed something unique. It wasn’t like your average Ratdog, Dead, Further, Dead Company gig…this was actually a new take on what Bobby Weir loves so much – his inner cowboy.
