Why You Should Go: Southern rockers JJ Grey & Mofro, bluegrass players extraordinaire The Infamous Stringdusters, and song crafters Fruition will be kicking off the first official weekend of the Red Rocks summer season this year. With three great bands it should be quite the kickoff.
JJ Grey & Mofro have been riding high on their unique blend of rock, funk, gospel, soul and R&B. Last year the band released their latest album, Ol’ Glory. The record reflects the band’s southern origins, melding a healthy mix of the above mentioned ingredients into a solid and cohesive effort.
Grammy-nominated bluegrass/country/improvisational outfit The Infamous Stringdusters returns to the area for two very special shows: Friday, May 6 at Red Rocks featuring special guest vocalists Lee Ann Womack and Nicki Bluhm (alongside JJ Grey & Mofro) and Saturday, May 7 at Fox Theatre (available as a 2-day pass with Red Rocks).
Fruition will be getting the night started right for just their second time at Red Rocks. The band is also hot on the heels of a new album titled Labor of Love. Look for the band at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 6 with the Infamous Stringdusters and JJ Grey & MOFRO, and at festival plays including Delfest, Summer Camp, the newly unveiled Vertex Festival, and many others still to be announced.
