March Fourth Marching Band – October 27th – The Gothic Theatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

March Fourth Marching Band invaded the Gothic on Saturday just in time to get deep into the spirit of Halloween. There is no one else on the scene like this band right now and they deserve all the attention they’re getting. They put on a phenomenal show and left nothing to the imagination. Part Marching Band, part Big-Band Swing, part Funk, and part straight-up Vaudeville circus there was not one person in the crowd that seemed interested in leaving early for fear of missing another crazy act onstage.

Aimee Mann – October 9th – The Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

It might not be the 80s anymore…heck it isn’t even close to the 90s anymore…but the crowd of Aimee Mann’s devoted fans on Tuesday night at The Ogden Theatre seemed ready to transport themselves back into an era where singer-songwriters ruled the radio, and the feminist movement was taking center stage. It was a scene of quiet love and appreciation for someone this middle-aged crowd of men and women has been committed to for years.

North Mississippi Allstars – September 15th – The Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

The setting of the North Mississippi Allstars show at The Ogden last Saturday was straight out of a concert hall from the late ’70s. People were ready to party, and party they did. This was a sweat-soaked, late summer showdown, that reeked of the muddy Mississippi. Sweat was flying, drinks were disappearing, and water was being poured on the front row. All in all, this was one of the most fun shows of the year, and it seemed everyone in the crowd was kicking back for some good ol’ Saturday night fun with Rock ‘n Roll.

These United States & The Knew – September 13th – The Hi-Dive

Estimated read time 4 min read

Sporting impressive beards, day-old flannel and t-shirts, and friendly smiles, The Knew and These United States set up shop last Thursday night to play music in front of a faithful crowd at The Hi-Dive. The audience of mostly twenty-something Denverites seemed anxious to hear some good music and weren’t necessarily interested in a cold beer or a flirty conversation. In the late hours of the night, when the lights came up, the bands looked and felt more like old friends of ours than performers.
