Voodoo Glow Skulls & Mustard Plug – December 6th – Gothic Theatre

Although Saturday night’s event at the Gothic was a Ska show, the crowd was distinctly Punk. There were Mohawks, patches, and spikes (both Liberty and on the jackets) galore as fans braved the cold air Saturday to see two legendary bands co-headlining The Gothic Theatre. Together the bands have an accumulation of forty years of musical experience and it showed with great performances by both bands.

Joey Cape – September 8th – The Walnut Room

The Walnut Room was packed for an acoustic night of music played by some of Punk Rock’s greatest doing a full night of acoustic performances. Several drunks were shushed during the show as it was a quiet room and at times hard to hear the performers over them. Despite the annoyance, the laid-back audience didn’t seem to care too much, they were just happy to see the Punk Rock superstar Joey Cape live in a piano bar or singer/songwriter type of setting rather than a raucous Punk club.

Doomtree Talks No Kings And Their Famous Wings And Teeth Logo

2011 was a big year for the Midwest hip-hop collective Doomtree. The year included a new record called “No Kings” and several critically acclaimed solo projects. As they prepared to start their 2012 Winter Tour, lyricist/emcee Dessa and producer Paper Tiger were able to take some time with Listen Up Denver! to discuss life on the road, the writing process, what the group stands for, and their famous Wings and Teeth logo.
