The Last Waltz Revisited – November 26th – Fillmore Auditorium

Estimated read time 5 min read

All the way back in 2005, Denver’s own Polytoxic started this tradition at the former Dulcinea’s 100th Monkey (now the 1UP-Colfax) just a half-block from the doors of The Fillmore. The boys brought up local musicians to help recreate The Band’s 1976 concert, The Last Waltz. It was the first such tribute for Denver and with so much success, Polytoxic started the Thanksgiving eve Tradition. Now, ten years later, after residencies at Cervantes’ and The Ogden, things have come almost full circle.

Alt-J – October 28th – Fillmore Auditorium

Estimated read time 3 min read

Amped up twentys-omethings filled the huge venue that is the Fillmore last Tuesday night when genre-bending English rockers Alt-J returned to the venue with a new album under their belt and demand for a ticket reaching new heights. In the band’s rapid rise to the top it seems they have amassed a diverse audience. Stoners, edgy teens, married couples, EDM chicks, hipster kids. They were all there and the band delivered a perfectly executed set, but nothing about the live experience made seeing them something to talk about.

While one can find Robin Thicke’s name plastered on tabloid magazines and at the top of Billboard charts as of late, he’s also a seasoned artist who has been writing, performing and producing music for over a decade. From slow R&B jams (which one guy best described as “baby-making music”) to some of the hottest Pop hits on the radio today, Robin Thicke put on a great show at The Fillmore that was worth coming out for on a Sunday night.

Galactic – March 8th – Fillmore Auditorium

Estimated read time 5 min read

From start to finish, Robert Randolph & The Family Band and Galactic had each person at The Fillmore on their good foot, dancing the winter blues away to jazz and funk music from New Jersey, New Orleans, and even the 16th Street Mall. If you missed Galactic or Robert Randolph this time around, make sure and get yourself some the next time around. On a mid-winter’s night, you really can’t ask for more of a summertime feeling than what you’ll get at one of these shows.

The Motet is celebrating their sixth studio release, ‘Dig Deep,’ at The Fillmore on Saturday! Simply put, this is a world-class ensemble that whips audiences into a whirlwind using sheer impromptu force. The rhythms are spontaneous and textured and the beats are hard driving. The band uses this energy to create a rapport between the audience and themselves that is rarely seen in today’s world of manufactured rock.
