Empire of the Sun – October 29th – Ogden Theatre

On Tuesday, Electro-Glam-Pop duo Empire of the Sun delivered a massive performance to a sold out Ogden Theatre. Since their first show in Colorado in 2011, the group has become become well known for their amazing live performances which are rich with lavish, high-fashion, futuristic costumry, psychedelic video installations, and intricate stage choreographies. Shortly after the doors opened, the house was packed and the audience was bustling with anticipation.

Global Dance Festival 2013 – July 19th – 21st – Red Rocks

The Global Dance Festival has undergone a transformation in recent years and now occupies a yearly and much anticipated spot on the Red Rocks calendar. With three days of high quality production and intense sound, Global has become one of the premier electronic festivals in the United States. This year, Triad Dragons Entertainment went with a more diverse sound and recruited a lineup that included: Ott, Emancipator, Beats Antique, Griz, Gramatik, Papadosio and Sander van Doorn.

Mimosa – ‘Future Trill Vol. 2’ Listening Party – July 18th – Side 3 Studios

Mimosa has a gift for blending styles of music that had been kept under wraps through his previous releases. On ‘Future Trill Vol. 1’ he stuck with his Hip-Hop beat making and monstrous bass lines, but ‘Future Trill Vol. 2’ seems to venture away from that norm. He did continue to show off his craft of matching glitched synth lines with 808 drum beats to incite energy but also talked about how, while on tour, he has been inspired and influenced by different styles and sounds.

Global Dance Festival – July 20th – 22nd – Red Rocks

Global Dance Festival took over Red Rocks this past weekend and the spectacle that ensued was nothing short of mind bending. With the explosion in the popularity of electronic music over the last five years the folks at Triad Dragons have enjoyed a meteoric rise to the forefront of the Dance universe. This year was no different as the likes of Knife Party, Steve Angello, Above and Beyond, and Excision rocked three stages and provided the most bass heavy weekend Red Rocks will host this summer.

SunSquabi Talks Wakarusa and Electronic Hydro Funk

Producer and guitarist Kevin Donahue, and bassist Andrew Clymer, have played in countless bands together over the last several years, including a recent stint performing with Bizzy Bone from Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, but they grew tired of playing other people’s songs. Looking for something new, they ended up forming Electronic Hydro Funk band SunSquabi. SunSquabi – Catastrophic EP

SunSquabi has been riding a rather impressive wave since their debut at the Global Dance Festival last summer. Their sound is a liquid-funk fusion of live instruments and electronica and they have recently released a new EP entitled Catastrophic. Clocking in at right around 35 minutes, this is a record that is worth a listen, if not four. Get on board with SunSquabi now, because they might just go on to do some pretty big things in the future.
