PICK OF THE WEEK: Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy – Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre – Sunday, August 7th

Estimated read time 2 min read

There are really only two words to describe these two legends: guitar gods. Beck of course got his start as part of the holy triumvirate of guitar players in the 60s blues based group The Yardbirds and Buddy Guy transcends the word legend and was a heavy influence on Beck and many other great guitar players. Coming out of the Chicago blues scene, Buddy played with Muddy Waters as a house musician for Chess Records.

PICK OF THE WEEK: Gary Clark Jr. – Ogden – Friday, October 11th

Estimated read time 1 min read

The only thing growing faster than Gary Clark Jr.’s acclaim — among fans, critics and iconic musicians alike — is the scope of his talents and tastes. His one-to-watch appearance at the White House command performance for the Obamas alongside Mick Jagger, B.B. King, Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy — prompted the Music Fan-in-Chief to remark, “He’s the future.”

Estimated read time 2 min read

Though his albums are very solid, it is damn near impossible to catch lighting in a bottle and the only way to truly experience what guitar young phenom Davy Knowles is capable of is to see him live.  He has played with Pete Townshend, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck and Warren Haynes, and, if there is any justice in the world, his name will soon be mentioned in the same breath as any one of these legends.
