Three writers. One festival. Perspective is everything, so when Listen Up Denver! set out to cover the second year of Arise Music Festival, we made sure we were stocked up. The weekend at Sunrise Ranch included more than 100 musical acts as well as 100+ workshops, a deluge of artists, installations and crafters, a barrage of food purveyors, and of course, camping. With such a wide array of sensory delights to document, we thought it best to send a team to convey the full experience of Arise.
Nothing like a quick stop home to do some laundry and unload all your camping and photo gear, just to turn around and pack it back up less than 24 hours later. Listen Up Denver! is, after all, a Colorado music resource and with Colorado bands Elephant Revival, MTHDS, Euforquestra, Octopus Nebula, Tatanka, Atomga, James and The Devil, and more playing the Desert Rocks 2012 music festival, how could we not follow the setting sun and stream of band busses heading west?
Featuring several members of Thievery Corporation, See-I is blending Reggae with funk and soul to create an impossibly catchy blend that never fails to get dance floors moving. They are playing Cervantes on Saturday night with Chali 2na of Jurassic 5 to celebrate the Humboldt Wholesale Mile High Jam Down. Don’t miss it!
